Open Web
The Open Web tool searches through roughly 50 social and professional networks and billions of web pages to create individual “super” profiles of potential candidates. These profiles are composed of professional experience, contributions, history, capabilities, interests, and occasionally contact information. The “super” profile also contains links to the candidate’s pages on other social and professional networks. Open Web consolidates information that’s publicly available online, but widely dispersed.
Pros
- Potential contact information for Email/Phone
- Still in Beta, may work out the kinks
- Supplemental information
- From Classic Search you can click to “See this Candidate in Open Web View”
- Refine your search by Location, Company, Skills, Job Titles
- Shows candidate’s online presence
- Potential for connecting through other sites
- Useful for expansion into other communities and connections. Takes you to the candidate’s personal page (public) simplifying the search process.

Cons
- No full resume
- Limited contact information (if any)
- Must use multiple sources (Not a one stop shop)
- Not intuitive.
- Some information is up to date (Job Title) while residency is not (FL vs. CO)
- Open Web will not search through Classic Dice for resume information
- Search refinement is confined to top hits.
- If using in conjunction with LinkedIn, it may be easier to send an InMail than searching Dice for contact information in order to send an email or phone number.
***** ******** Save this Profile FIS Developer at Faculty Affairs, University of Colorado Boulder *************@gmail.comAt some point in our lives we state, “I will not be my parents.” Depending on our parents, some of us are lucky to be wrong. I’m a software engineer, a second generation programmer. Originally an aspiring surgeon, I graduated from the University of Florida in 2004 with a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science.I’m a geek, a married dork. The love of my life is my opposite and my equal. She hates the outdoors, I love it. She loves drama’s, I prefer to be in other rooms when they are on. She excels on the computer where I fail, she can make buildings appear from a few keyboard commands on a blank screen. She is truly amazing.
